Wilmington/Cape Fear Region 2022

Wilmington/Cape Fear Region 2022

Steeped in history, Wilmington and the Cape Fear region have been welcoming guests since the 16th century when the first Europeans visited the area. Cobblestone streets still echo with the click of horse-drawn carriages. Yet, there’s a progressive vibe that captivates visitors and residents alike.

We’ll explore and learn about the city’s many faces while savoring spring’s awakening surrounded by azaleas everywhere we go in North Carolina’s Port City. Our hotel overlooks the river. Historic, dynamic, innovative, diverse, with beaches nearby, this trip is sure to whet your interest in the Cape Fear region.

Description

Join visit NC concierge March 29-31, 2022 for an immersion experience in this vibrant region of North Carolina. Our tour includes a variety of exceptional offerings combining history, culture, natural beauty, economic development, and maritime commerce. On our way to Wilmington, we’ll stop at the Moore’s Creek National Battlefield where nearly 1,000 North Carolinians waited quietly to seize the first significant victory for the Patriots in the American Revolution. Following lunch we’ll visit Airlie Gardens. Begun in 1884 by Sarah and Pembroke Jones, today the 67 acres of gardens boast more than 100,000 azaleas. Our visit coincides with prime-time viewing!

After checking in, a leisurely, relaxing dinner awaits us on the hotel’s terrace overlooking the Cape Fear River.

Day two of this adventure begins with a guided tour of the Wilmington Railroad Museum.  At the conclusion of our visit, a horse-drawn carriage will transport us through the Historic District. Seeing the city from the vantage point of the carriage offers a unique perspective into the beauty and rich culture of Wilmington. We’ll lunch in one of the many renowned, independent downtown restaurants. Following lunch, we’ll cross the river for a guided tour of the USS North Carolina, the most decorated United States World War II battleship.

After checking out of our hotel Thursday morning, our motorcoach will take us to the Port of Wilmington. An introduction and guided tour of this state-of-the-art facility will introduce us to the general cargo and container terminals, vital links in the state’s economic health.

Limited to 30 guests. Be sure to sign up early to secure your spot!
