Description

Join us for an immersive holiday experience along North Carolina’s Inner Banks!

The Albemarle-Pamlico peninsula in eastern North Carolina boasts serene beauty, rich wildlife, and a storied cultural history that serves as the backdrop of visitNCconcierge’s holiday adventure for 2020.

The North Carolina Estuarium in Washington will be our first stop. With more than 200 exhibits celebrating the thousands of square miles of estuaries that lie inside North Carolina’s barrier island shoreline, this North Carolina treasure will educate and inform, laying the foundation for exploring the region.

The beautiful historic River Forest Manor in Belhaven, commissioned in 1899 by a lumber baron, will be our home away from home. An authentic coastal Carolina oyster roast awaits as we settle into the peace and tranquility overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway at the confluence of Pantego Creek and the Pungo River.

Traveling east from Belhaven on Saturday morning, our destination is Lake Mattamuskeeet, North Carolina’s largest natural lake. Nothing announces the holiday season in eastern North Carolina more than seeing and hearing the migratory waterfowl traveling the Atlantic Flyway.  Stopping over at Lake Mattamuskeet and across  the rich ecosystem of the Albemarle-Pamlico peninsula, this annual pilgrimage is a sight to behold for locals and visitors alike. National Wildlife Refuge staff will welcome us presenting an overview of the refuge and leading a tour of the historic lodge. The refuge attracts more than 200,000 ducks, geese and swans November through February. Experience game viewing as we drive amongst the refuge’s wetland impoundments adjacent to the lake and as we cross the lake via the 6 mile causeway heading to Edenton.

Historic Edenton, on the northern shore of the Albermarle Sound, has a well-deserved reputation as “The South’s prettiest small town”. Celebrating Edenton’s “Lights of Joy”, we will virtually tour 18 private homes, decked in their holiday splendor.  Additionally, a Designer Show House is sure to inspire, delight, and intrigue as we stroll through this Edenton landmark never before on tour. We will tour the Designer Show House as a group, practicing social distancing from others.

Space is limited. Be sure to sign up early.
