Description
Visit NC Concierge’s commitment to providing uncommon access to North Carolina’s treasures takes us to the thriving city of Asheville in the southwest part of our state in November. Known as both a culinary haven and a center for creative arts, Asheville offers the gilded age grandeur of the Biltmore Estate alongside modern cuisine, craft brewing, and the working studios and galleries of hundreds of artists. Read on for the details of this exciting mid-week adventure.
Asheville, known as the cradle of North Carolina’s craft brew industry, is home to large and small breweries. After checking into our hotel on Tuesday afternoon, we’ll head to Sierra Nevada’s east coast headquarters for a private tour and dinner.
Wednesday morning begins with a trolley tour of the city. The included meals during our visit will take advantage of the city’s many varied offerings, with free time to explore downtown as our hotel is within walking distance of shops, galleries, and restaurants.
The centerpiece of this travel experience is our experience at the Biltmore Estate, which begins with a reserve tour of the wildly popular Downton Abbey: The Exhibition, featuring the real sets and more than 50 costumes and artifacts from the PBS series, and is followed by a Candlelight Christmas Evening on Wednesday evening. Wrapped in the scent of fresh evergreens, we’ll travel back in time to the splendor of a bygone era as we explore America’s grandest home.
Departing Asheville Thursday morning via “America’s favorite drive”, the Blue Ridge Parkway, our route includes a visit to the Southern Highland Craft Guild, featuring exhibits, handcrafted goods, and the work of nearly 900 makers. On our return to Raleigh, we’ll stop for lunch and a tour at Childress Vineyards.
